Jeremy Autry has been named the new head coach of the girls basketball team at Davie County High School.
Autry comes to the War Eagles with 14 years of basketball coaching experience and with a strong track record of building winning programs. Most recently, he served as head coach for the women’s basketball program at East Forsyth High in Kernersville. Since he began there in 2023, the team earned the title of conference tournament champions, achieved the second-most program wins in the past 20 years, and increased the number of students participating in the basketball program by over 60 percent.
Prior to his tenure at East Forsyth, Autry led the women’s basketball program at Westchester Country Day School in High Point and also held coaching roles at Northwest Guilford High. While at Westchester, his teams achieved the most wins in an 18-year span, earned the school’s first first-round playoff bye in nearly two decades, and saw 100% of his student-athletes go on to attend four-year colleges. His coaching experience spans a variety of levels and school settings, making him uniquely equipped to guide Davie County’s already-strong program into its next chapter of success.
“I am beyond excited to have the opportunity to lead this program and be a part of such a wonderful community,” said Autry. “I want every kid to enjoy this great game and carry the memories and life lessons with them. Years down the road when they think back on playing at Davie, I want it to represent some of the most fun times of their lives.”
“Coach Autry brings a wealth of basketball knowledge and experience to our program, and what truly sets him apart is his compassion for players both on and off the court,” said Tim Devericks, Davie athletics director. “He understands the importance of nurturing talent at every level and values the role that all of our middle and youth players play in the future of basketball in Davie County.”
“Jeremy Autry’s appointment marks an exciting new chapter for women’s basketball at Davie County High School,” said Cindy Stone, newly appointed principal at Davie. “We’re confident that his leadership and experience will inspire our student-athletes and continue to build on the momentum of our growing program. Congratulations, Coach Autry, and welcome to the War Eagle community!”
In addition to his coaching career, Autry holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Autry will start work soon, connecting with players and building a strong foundation for the season ahead.
