Jason Riddle paced the attack by going 3 for 5. Ben Bost and Britt Sink were both 2-3 with a walk. Sink reached base four times, and Wade Hefner went 2-4, scored two runs and reached base three times.
Of the three Mocksville pitchers, the one effective hurler was Hefner, who worked two scoreless innings in relief with no walks and three strikeouts.
Mocksville fell hard at Kannapolis, getting outhit 9-3 and allowing five runs in the second, six in the third and heading home after four and a half innings. Sink, Riddle and Gabe McMurray all went 1 for 2. McMurray was a bright spot as he threw 1.2 relief innings without allowing a run and fanning four.
