It’s not too early to start thinking about Independence Day celebrations in Davie County, with at least two on tap July 4 and 5.
The annual Cooleemee celebration starts with a patriotic parade starting at 10 a.m. If you want to participate, just show up at the elementary school by 9.
After the parade winds through town streets, activities shift to the historic Zachary House, where there will be free watermelon and ice pops, a huge slip and slide, and a few vendors. Hotdogs and drinks will be available for purchase.
On Saturday, Davie Recreation & Parks hosts a celebration from 6:30-10:30 p.m. featuring a concert by Gary Lowder & Smokin’ Hot and His and Hers, followed by a fireworks show, best seen from inside of the park.
