Davie’s boys lacrosse team defeated Glenn and Reagan in the CPC Tournament, but the championship game between the top two was rained out and not rescheduled.
In Kernersville on May 5, the second-seeded War Eagles ripped seventh-seeded Glenn 21-2 in the first round. They outscored Glenn 68-2 in three meetings this season, and the Bobcats finished 5-13.
Jack Pisciotta had 6 goals and 5 assists to lead the way. Henry Hines had 4 goals, Ty Carter 3 and Owen Blakely 3. Scoring 1 each were Jayce Bentley, Caleb Coble, Reid Tilley, Evans Steele and Cas Moore.
Will Carter and Hines had 4 assists apiece. Evan Helms had 3, T. Carter 2 and Blakely 1.
Two days later at Reynolds, Davie slipped past No. 3 Reagan 12-10 in the CPC semifinals. Helms, Blakely and Pisciotta had 3 goals apiece as Davie defeated Reagan for the third time this season. Hines, T. Carter and Moore had the other goals. Pisciotta also had 3 assists.
Davie was supposed to face No. 1 Reynolds in the final, but inclement weather intervened. The state playoffs began this week, and Davie carried an 18-2 record and six-game winning streak into the 4-A tournament.
