Church getting some ‘hat’titude’

Get those fancy hats ready for “Hat’titude: The Crown of a Christian Woman” at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 29 at New Bethel Baptist Church, 3727 US 601 S., Mocksville.
The speaker will be Minister Valarie Houston-Watkins, daughter of Bill Houston and Phyllis Houston. A graduate of the Rowan County School System, she also graduated from Salisbury Business College and has been employed at Freightliner for the past 27 years.
She is married to Jeff Watkins, and they have three children: LaShonda, Sierra and Jay; three grandchildren, Sanaa, Kaidenence and Sebastian. She is the associate minister at Jerusalem Baptist Church, and works with Pastors Aid and the Annie Dukes Missionary mission for the church. She is a member of the Prayer Team Ministry, Kitchen Committee and Food Pantry Ministry.
Houston-Watkins holds her work with the youth and the elderly dear to he heart, and is not ashamed about her love of God and God’s people.
Women are encouraged to wear their fanciests hats.
The Rev. James A. Ledbetter III is the pastor at New Bethel.
