The Davie tennis team maintained its grip on second in the Central Piedmont Conference last week by easing past West Forsyth (7-2) and North Davidson (9-0).
Davie moved to 7-1 overall and 5-1 in the CPC. It’s looking a lot like 2011, when the War Eagles went 8-2 in the league to claim second behind Reynolds.
“The message is slowly getting through I think,” coach Gordon McEachran said of his team’s steady improvement.
The top five seeds won against West Forsyth, including Scott Gallimore (6-0, 6-0), David Hursey (6-4, 6-2), Evan Lankford (8-6, 6-3), Robert Daniel (6-4, 6-4) and Barry Hunter (6-0, 6-0).
Having clinched the win in singles, Davie tacked on victories at Nos. 1-2 doubles. Gallimore-Hursey (8-3) and Lankford-Hunter (8-0) had the victories in doubles.
While the War Eagles ran their winning streak against West to five, they punished North for the 20th consecutive time.
