One man is dead and another in jail after a shooting on Monday morning.
Robert Szabocsan, 54, was found at the point of death at approximately 6:30 a.m. Monday at his home off US 601 just south of Mocksville. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Harley Harrison Gunter, 25, of Mocksville, was charged with first-degree murder and is being held without privilege of bond. He is scheduled for a first-appearance hearing Thursday in Davie District Court.
The victim was the suspect’s father-in-law, said Davie Sheriff’s Lt. Scott Kimel. He said the incident was domestic related, and that the suspect had no other reason to be at the residence at that time of the morning.
The suspect’s wife, who was not at the scene, made the 911 call, Kimel said.
Within 30 minutes of receiving the initial 911 call, Gunter turned himself in at the Mocksville Police Department, telling an officer there that he is the person they are looking for. He was taken into custody until sheriff’s officers arrived and made an arrest.
Gunter refused to talk with investigators, asking for an attorney.
