The greatest season ever for Davie boys lacrosse was stopped in the second round of the 4-A playoffs by visiting Ardrey Kell, the Knights ripping Davie 20-4.
The Knights, seeded ninth in the West Region, improved to 18-4. After receiving a first-round bye, the No. 8 War Eagles finished 18-3.
The War Eagles were riding a six-game winning streak after putting together the longest streak in their 12-year history (eight straight wins) earlier in the season, but they ran into a wood chipper on May 16.
Jack Pisciotta had a hat trick, but Henry Hines had the only other goal for Davie.
Still, it was an amazing year for the War Eagles. Not only did they shatter the record for wins (the previous record was 11), they finished second in the CPC after never placing better than fourth between 2014-24. In three years under coach Ross Neisler, the win totals have gone from four to 11 to 18.
Pisciotta was out-of-this-world good as a junior, setting Davie records for goals (98) and assists (88). Senior Ty Carter was second with 63 goals, followed by Hines with 35 and junior Owen Blakely with 34.
The top five in assists included Hines (31), T. Carter (29), sophomore Evan Helms (24) and sophomore Will Carter (22). Hines might be a massive future star as a freshman.
Girls Lose
The Davie girls lacrosse team, seeded 19th, was bounced 19-7 at No. 14 Ballantyne Ridge in the first round on May 13.
Lyndsay Davis and Kayden Richardson led the way in goals, as usual, with three each. Viola Hewitt had the other goal. Richardson added five ground balls and one assist. Davis turned in five draw controls.
Although the Lady War Eagles couldn’t keep up with the Wolves (12-6), the season saw big positives. At 10-10, they recorded the most wins in their eight-year history; records of 7-5 in 2018 and 7-12 in 2024 were the most victories before 2025. Davie also stopped a streak of five losing seasons.
Richardson’s sophomore season was nothing short of extraordinary as she poured in a program-record 71 goals. Seniors Davis (45) and Kimber Holston (13) and junior Lila Moore (13) were next in that category. The assist leaders were Davis (17), Richardson (15), Holston (eight) and Moore (eight).
