When inspectors from Davie Health & Human Services arrived at Bojangles on Yadkinville Road for a sanitation inspection on April 1, they found an array of problems – so many that the restaurant scored an 84.5 – a “B” rating.
At a re-inspection on April 10, the restaurant was back with an “A” 95.5 rating.
On April 1, the sanitation inspector found:
• soiled tea nozzles, mold on ice despenser in lobby area, sanitizer not concentrated enough;
• cold food must be stored at 41º or cooler, food in walk-in chicken cooler was 51º, breader at 55º, walk-in freezer at 34º;
• live cockroaches were observed throughout, several flies throughout, landing on food during inspection;
• observed flies on biscuits, soiled dish stored inside box of rice;
• wet wiping cloths stored on surfaces instead of in a container of sanitizer;
• cleaning needed throughout;
• leak on sink;
• handsink needs cleaning, observed food in sink;
• baseboards need cleaning or replaced to prevent space between wall;
• employee items stored in food areas.
On the April 10 re-inspection, the following violations were noted:
• must have a certified food protection manager present at all times;
• observed debris on multiple clean dishes;
• evidence of cockroaches, three in traps, restaurant working with pest management system;
• dishes not dry prior to stacking;
• better cleaning needed in dry storage area, beside hood, floors in walk-ins and freezer, under shelving. “Facility as a whole looks much cleaner; continue to work on cleanliness,” the inspector noted.
