For the fourth year in a row, Wayne-Sanderson Farms has demonstrated its commitment to local education with a donation to the Davie Community Foundation.
On April 23, Complex Manager Matthew Wooten and Mill Manager Crystal Parker presented a $4,000 check to the Davie County Training School – Central Davie Scholarship Fund committee.
Of that, $1,000 will go to the Davie County Training School – Central Davie Scholarship Fund, while the remaining $3,000 will benefit the Community Scholarship Fund. The donation will support students during the 2025–2026 academic year.
The new Wayne-Sanderson Farms feed mill completed a $25 million renovation on East Depot Street in Mocksville and began production in October 2024.
As part of its renovations, the company added on-site grain storage to reduce daily deliveries and minimize dust and wrapped the plant in a wrought iron fence.
Additionally, it acquired and cleared debris from an adjacent property to enhance the facility’s appearance. Plans are to remove buildings to increase parking capacity as well.
“I promised the mayor and the town that we would make it better and I believe we’ve kept that promise,” Wooten said.
The plant brought 23 new job opportunities to the area and maintenance technicians are still needed. Interested applicants can visit waynesandersonfarms.com.
The ongoing contributions from Wayne-Sanderson Farms have helped expand educational opportunities and reduce financial barriers for Davie students pursuing higher education, said Melissa O’Connor, program officer for the foundation. “The $3,000 donation to the Community Scholarship Fund enabled us to award scholarships to three additional highly-deserving students.”
