Bermuda Run Garden Club
Spring is here and the Bermuda Run Garden Club has sprung into action.
Members have been out in the community for two of the most visible and popular events.
On Saturday, April 12 the semi-annual shredding event took place. The morning was chilly and windy, but that didn’t stop the veteran crew of club members, led by Marie Labarowski.
Beginning at 9 a.m., a steady stream of participants queued the parking lot, trading bags of paper for a small fee. Many times, the fee was accompanied by an additional donation.
After settling up with the Shred-It company, proceeds go to fund projects in Davie and beyond. Those projects were listed on a paper given with each donation.
To those of you who supported this event, we say a sincere “thank you.” The next shredding event will be in the fall.
On April 15, the annual geranium sale took place under the leadership of co-chairs Amy Bridges, Holly Loke and Karen Cohn. The lower parking lot of Bermuda Run Country Club was peppered with red, coral, violet, pink and white plants from Mitchell’s Nursery and Greenhouse in King.
Several club members recruited their spouses and arrived early to meet and unload the truck full of flowers. The plants were sorted into sections according to size and color. Soon the cars began streaming in to pick up the pre-ordered flowers.
Club members are flower lovers with a passion to share the joy plants can bring.
We were truly in our happy place as we filled trunks, trucks and back seats and watched as these beautiful geraniums went home with fellow nature-lovers. We want to extend another big thank you to everyone who supported this event.
