Commander Heidi Landry Koski will be honored as a “Famous Former” May 1 at the d’Art Center in Norfolk, Va., by the Girl Scouts.
Koski, a Davie High graduate, is the commanding officer at the U.S. Coast Guard Base in Elizabeth City.
Originally from Mocksville, this Girl Scout alum now calls Chesapeake, Va. home.
Her most memoralble Girl Scout achievements included earning the Girl Scout Silver Award and the Girl Scout Gold Award while a member of the then Tarheel Girl Scout Council.
Her journey to becoming a U.S. Coast Guard commanding officer began when she graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 2004.
