Masks are optional for students and staff in Davie County Schools.
Members of the board of education made the unanimous decision Tuesday morning.
The state safe schools tool kit, which guides the system, changed rules so that a student who comes in contact with one testing positive does not have to quarantine if that student shows no symptoms.
And as of Monday, there were 14 students and one staff member who had COVID, with 71 students in quarantine.
