A case of mistaken identity gone horribly wrong happened Friday night in Davie County.
A man and three women from Lincolnton apparently thought a vehicle that had been stolen there was in the Davie County area, so they came looking. They spotted what they thought was the vehicle and began chasing the driver beginning at Ridge and Crescent roads. The driver called 911 and said they were being chased. At one time, the suspects – wearing bullet-proof vests – blocked that driver, and pointed a sawed-off shotgun.
Davie Sheriff’s deputies located the suspects on US 64 West after the van they were in caught fire, and made the arrests.
Brian Andrews, 37, was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy, larceny of a vehicle, possession of a weapon of mass destruction and assault with a deadly weapon. Amy Drum, 34, Jessica Stewart, 30, and Haley Lusk, 26, were each charged with conspiracy, attempted larceny and assault with a deadly weapon.
