BERMUDA RUN – Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center has received its eighth consecutive “A” grade from The Leapfrog Group, which gives the hospital “Straight A” status.
This status is an honor earned by 12 percent of hospitals nationwide.
“We are thrilled to celebrate receiving our eighth consecutive ‘A’ rating, a testament to our unwavering commitment to patient safety,” said Cathleen Wheatley, president of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Davie Medical Center. “This achievement is a direct result of the dedication and hard work of our incredible team. Every day, they strive to provide the highest quality care for our patients and their families. We are deeply grateful for their efforts and excited about continuing to uphold these exceptional standards.”
Atrium Health is part of Charlotte-based Advocate Health, the nation’s third-largest nonprofit, integrated health system formed through the combination of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health in 2022. In total, Advocate Health hospitals received 15 “A” ratings in total on the Leapfrog spring 2025 patient safety report card.
“We are immensely proud and excited about the exemplary Leapfrog awards and our outstanding rankings,” said Dr. Scott Rissmiller, executive vice president and chief clinical officer for Advocate Health.
“These accolades reflect the unwavering dedication and tireless efforts of our incredible teammates who consistently strive for excellence. Together, we are transforming care and advancing health in our communities with a shared vision of unparalleled excellence.”
Leapfrog grades are assigned to nearly 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the nation twice a year. The grade uses up to 30 national performance measures from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey and information from other supplemental data sources, producing a single letter grade representing a hospital’s overall performance in keeping patients safe from preventable harm and medical errors.
