A Mocksville woman died after injuries suffered crossing Main Street in Downtown Mocksville Saturday evening.

Her husband was critically injured.

Mocksville Police Chief Pat Reagan said names aren’t being released because the surviving spouse has not been told, and the driver may be charged.

The couple was struck in the crosswalk after 8 p.m., Reagan said. The woman, 68, died on Sunday. Her husband, 72, is being treated for multiple broken bones.

The vehicle was traveling north as the couple was crossing the street. The driver remained at the scene and was cooperative, he said.

It is a state law that pedestrians have the right of way in marked crosswalks.
