Davie County School board members could get what they asked for – the same monies from the county coffers they received last year.
An interim $59.2 million budget proposal (A final one is scheduled after an efficiency audit report is received.) was presented to county commissioners Monday night, and it includes the same allocation for outside agencies – including the school system – as last year.
“We are waiting for the recommendation from Evergreen (auditors) … so we can assimilate some of their recommendations,” said board chair, Mark Jones. He added by that time, the state budget may be final, giving the county a better look at what state money will be coming to the county – or what services will be handed to the counties to fund.
The proposal presented by County Manager Beth Dirks includes:
• no increase in the property tax rate;
• permanent deletion of 13.5 positions saving approximately $570,000 annually …
