Jackie Douglas Cornatzer

Jackie Douglas Cornatzer, 64, of Salisbury, died on Tuesday, Jan. 10, 2017 at Novant Health Rowan Medical Center.

He was born Sept. 19, 1952 in Davie County to the late Verdie and Ollie Mae Cornatzer. He graduated from Davie County High School in 1970. He served in the US Army in the 82nd Airborne from 1974-1976 and was honorably discharged. He worked as an electrician with the VA Medical Center from 1998-present. He was a member of the 40/8 and the Hudson-Miller-Tatum VFW Post 3006. He was a fundraiser for Faithful Friends and a  supporter of Rowan Helping Ministries. He loved to ride motorcycles and going to the mountains.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Donald Cornatzer.

Survivors: his wife of 8 years, Debra Cornatzer; brothers, Gene (Jean) Cornatzer  and Glenn (Kimmy) Cornatzer, all of Davie County; sister, Peggy (Marshall) Clawson of Cooleemee; step-daughters, Laura (Danny) Lipe and Michelle (Lanny) Graham all of Salisbury; grandsons Cameron Graham, Daniel Lipe, and Maddox Graham;  many nieces, nephews and his pets Mighty and Hammer.

The family received friends Monday, Jan. 16 at Summersett Funeral Home. The funeral service followed at 1 p.m. in Summersett Memorial Chapel. Burial was in the US National Cemetery.
