Jerry Lee Ratledge

Jerry Lee Ratledge, 64, of Mocksville, died on Wednesday, Aug. 31, 2016, at Forsyth Medical Center.
Born in Davie County on Oct. 29, 1951, he was the son of the late Duke Ratledge Sr. and Eva Hunter Ratledge. He attended Davie County High School. For 18 years, he was a route salesman with Pepsi Cola Bottling Co. That earned him the titles of “Pepsi Man” and “Papaw Pepsi.” He also worked with Cheerwine Bottling. He was an active and dedicated member of the Center Fire Department for more than 42 years, and was a member of Ijames Baptist Church.
Survivors: 2 daughters, Rhonda M. Fox (Gill) of Statesville and Carolyn Hopkins (Michael Brannock) of Advance; a sister, Shirley Webb (Jerry) of Mocksville; 4 grandchildren, Jennifer Fox, Julia Fox, Cody Hopkins, and Amanda Fox; a great-grandchild, Julian Fox; and a soon-to-arrive great-grandchild, Adalyn Meredith, due in October.
He was also preceded in death by 2 brothers, Duke Ratledge Jr. and Donnie Ratledge; and a sister, Frances Peoples.
The family received friends Sunday, Sept. 4 at Davie Funeral Chapel. The celebration of life service was conducted at 2 p.m. Monday in the funeral chapel with Pastor Bob Briggs officiating. Burial followed in the Chestnut Grove UMC church cemetery with Fallen Firefighter’s Honors accorded by his fellow firefighters. Pallbearers were Roy Hurt, Milton Gaither, Seth Phillips, David Beck, Kevin Ward and Larry O’Neal with Everette Glasscock and Jerry Webb serving as honorary pallbearers.
