Schools OK air filtration systems

Without a funding commitment from county commissioners, the Board of Education decided to proceed with air-quality equipment at two county schools.
The purchase of equipment for a third school, Pinebrook Elementary, was approved at the July board meeting.
The cost for equipment at all three schools, Pinebrook, North Davie and the new Davie High school will be about $249,000.
At a meeting last month, the board heard from Superintendent Dr. Darrin Hartness, who said bad odors coming from two composting facilities near the schools prompted complaints and concerns.
