As Davie students enjoy their last weeks of summer vacation, members of the Mocksville Police Department want to make the transition back to school a bit easier.

Through Aug. 22, the police department, on North Main Street in Downtown Mocksville, will accept school supplies and backpacks. The items will be given to principals for distribution to students.

“The Mocksville Police Department is excited to partner with our citizens and to help children with school supplies,” said Assistant Chief Nelson Turrentine.

The department is open Monday-Friday from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.; but donations can be accepted by any police officer.
