Harvey Joe Hendrix

Mr. Harvey Joe Hendrix, 78, of Advance, died Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital.

He was born March 12, 1938 in Davie County to the late Otis and Nomie Hendrix. He was self employed for Baity Tire Service before his illness in 1994 and was a member of No Creek Primitive Baptist Church. Mr. Hendrix will be remembered for his kindness and loving ways as well as his funny and joking ways.

Survivors: his wife of 53 years, Edna Mae of the home; 2 sons, Ronnie Hendrix (Angie) of Advance and Mickie Hendrix (Lorna) of Lexington; 5 grandchildren, Eddie Barrier of Mocksville, Danelle Gaddy (Charlie) of Advance, Dylan Carpenter of Advance, Leeann Smith (Brandon) of Churchland and Dawn Hendrix of Lexington; and 8 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Betty Snider (Monty) of Mocksville and Hallene Walser (Jiles) of Lexington; and 3 sisters-in-law, Diane Baker (Brian) and Vickie Bevon, both of Lexington and Delilah Burton (Walter) of Advance.

He is also preceded in death by: a sister, Edna Mae; and 2 brothers, Billy Wayne and Clarence Otis Hendrix.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 22 at No Creek Primitive Baptist Church by Elder Eddie Fowler. Mr. Hendrix lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends Monday at Hayworth-Miller Kinderton Chapel.
