Mr. Lewis Carroll Carter, 87, of Gun Club Road, Advance, died Wednesday, July 30, 2025 at Novant Health Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.
He was born on June 7, 1938 in Davie County to the late James Tilden and Lola May Ridenhour Carter.
Mr. Carter retired from R.J. Reynolds. He loved playing golf in his younger days and enjoyed riding around as he got older. Mr. Carter was a gifted storyteller and was always kind to everyone. He met and married his true love, Jeanie, later in life and they shared a love for each other that was almost unheard of.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: 2 sons, Dennis Carroll Carter and Christopher Bryant Carter.
Survivors include: his wife, Twyla “Jeanie” Brown Carter of the home; 3 children, Lewis Dean Carter (Patsy), Randall Keith Carter, and Jeanette Tracy; a step-son, Edward N. Brown; step-daughters, Sonja Sherrill, Linda Gallagher, Janie Brown Phillips, and Cherie Brown; a sister, Kay Prevette; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 3 in Cornatzer Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bob Whitaker and Rev. Jennings O’Neal officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the church.
