Daniel Steven Kooistra

Daniel Steven Kooistra of Mocksville passed away peacefully on June 5, 2025, surrounded by a small circle of devoted friends who loved him deeply. He was 72 years old.
Dan spent his adult life in Florida and then North Carolina. A skilled carpenter and old-school cowboy, he lived much of his life outdoors—building, mending, and caring for the animals and land he cherished.
He was predeceased by his parents, Daniel and Anita Kooistra, and by his son, Joshua Kooistra. He is survived by his sister, Donna Blount of Florida; his son, Seth Kooistra, also of Florida; and by a few close friends who became his chosen family.
A private graveside service will be held to honor his life at a later date.
