Some Davie residents got a peak on what it’s like to try to re-enter society after being homeless.
Sponsored by Partner’s Health and organized by Karisa McDaniel, a housing specialist with Partners Health Management, the vent brought together representatives from Davie non-profits, faith groups and others.
“We were able to create something far greater than an event,” McDaniel said. “We sparked awareness, built empathy, and laid the foundation for real, lasting change.”
The vent included former homeless people who shared their struggles.
“You vulnerability, your strength, and your truth touched every heart in the room,” she said. “Thank you for inviting us into your lives and allowing us to walk alongside your journey, if only for a moment.
“You are the reason this simulation had the depth it di. Your voice borught life to the purpose behind the event, and your presence reminded us that behind every statistis is a name, a story, a soul.
“I truly believe that together we are planting seeds that will grow into stronger systems of support and understanding for those who need it most. The conversations that were started will echo far beyond this day, and I look forward to what we will continue to build together,” McDaniel said.
