He was born Jan. 29, 1953 in Rowan County, son of Evangelist Mary Ann Clement White. He was raised by his grandmother, the late Sarah Janie Clement, who named him “Buster.” She instilled great values, such as respect for others, and being a good role model for his sons and all youth. He graduated from Davie High School in 1971 and later graduated from Rowan Cabarrus Community College with an associate degree in electrical maintenance. He continued his electrical training at the Burlington Industries Impact School and received a certificate in master mechanic and electrical instrumentation. Pursuing his call to ministry, he earned a bachelor’s degree in theology from Ambassador Christian College. In March of 1975, he married the love of his life, Crystal Johnson. To this union, two children were born, Quinton and Trent. His first employment was with Burlington Industries and later he worked as an electrician at Comfort Built Windows and Doors. The Rev. Clement’s pastoral duties began at Shiloh Baptist Church in Mt. Airy, where he served for 20 years. He has served as the pastor at Fairfield Baptist Church in Mocksville for the past 11 years. He has been active in the community, including a board member of the Davie Family YMCA, president of the DC Cruisers Auto Club, current president of the Davie County NAACP, and a member of the Rowan Baptist Association. His hobbies included classic car restoration, basketball, golf, fishing, hunting, and physical fitness.
