The Masonic Picnic is back.
After several years of smaller events with limited attendance, this year the Masonic Lodges of Davie County raised some $15,000 for the Masonic Home for Children in Oxford.
And to top that off, organizer James Taylor estimated that throughout the day, 2,000 people attended.
“Thank you to the community from the Masonic lodges,” Taylor said.
In addition to vendors and a popular dinosaur exhibit, there were food trucks and a visit from children from the Oxford home.
“It was so heartwarming when the children arrived,” Taylor said. “A lot of the vendors had special gifts for them. All of the children’s meals were paid for and they were given a little spending money upon their arrival.”
Plans have begun for next year’s picnic, planned for mid-August.
