John Ashley Smith, 78, of Salisbury, passed away Wednesday, Aug.t 7, 2024 at his home.

 He was born June 9, 1946 in Iredell County, NC to the late June Bailey and Anice Foster Smith.

John graduated from Davie County High in 1964. John had a long term career at Fiber, where he was able to travel many places across the globe. John’s favorite place to visit in his spare time was the North Carolina Outer Banks where you would find him fishing. He also enjoyed hunting and gardening.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by: his daughter, Crystal Yvette Moore; siblings, Cindy Brown, and Bailey Smith.

 John is survived by: granddaughters, Rachael Layton (Daniel) of Mocksville, Brianna Allred (Lucas) of Lexington; sisters, June Whitaker and Martha McBride of Mocksville; great-grandchildren, Henry Allred and Mia Layton; numerous nieces and nephews; and long-time friend Frank Weddle.

 There will be a memorial service held at a later date.

 In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Outer Banks Relief Foundations, Inc.
