Oooh boys, it’s hot.
It’s also dry; too dry for any kind of fire.
Davie Fire Marshal Cameron Webb has issued a countywide burn ban until further notice.
“This will be zero tolerance,” he said. “Our top priority is always to protect lives and property in Davie County.”
Under state law, anyone violating this ban can be required to pay for all costs involved with extinguishing the fire. Local fire officials and law enforcements are on the lookout for any violations, Webb reported.
While campfires are not allowed, outdoor grilling is still possible. Just be careful, and never leave unattended coals, have a water hose nearby, and other items like a shovel that could help contain a fire.
“Conditions are favorable for rapid fire spread,” Webb said. “Davie County has experienced little or no rainfall for several weeks.”
