Ascension Day is the 40th day after Easter, on which Christ’s Ascension is celebrated in the Christian Church.

This Thurday, May 9, Ascension Day will be celebrated with a Holy Eucharist Service (Holy Communion) at 6 p.m. followed by a potluck meal immediately after
the service in the Church Parish Hall. The Episcopal Church of the Ascension is at 183 Fork-Bixby Road, Advance.

Father Gus Chrysson has been priest at Ascension since early 2023. He holds degrees in music from New York University and Columbia University, and an MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary. Prior to heading to seminary in 2016, Fr. Gus worked as a full time classical musician in New York City, specializing in vocal and choral repertoire. Fr. Gus was called to the Church of the Ascension from St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in High Point
