Davie County Senior Services will host the Senior Expo and Shredding Event Thursday, Jan. 18 in the Brock Recreation Center Gym off North Main Street in Mocksville from 1-3 p.m.

“This event will be a one-stop place to gather information on everything you need to know for healthy, active living for seniors,” said Kim Shuskey, senior services director.

There will be organizations and agencies  including the Davie Fire Marshal’s Office, EMS, Health Department, Library, Veterans Services, Register of Deeds, Board of Elections, Recreation and Parks, Sheriff’s Office, Cooperative Extension, Social Services, Center for Violence Prevention and Senior Services.

There will be screenings for cholesterol, glucose, and blood pressure with UNCG Minerva’s Mobile Unit and Fall Prevention Screenings with Winston-Salem State University, all free.

“These county offices, businesses, and organizations will be on hand with a wealth of information that will help seniors live healthier, stay active and lead more fulfilled lives,” Shuskey said.

There will be door prizes and giveaways.

This will coincide with the kickoff for Senior Games registration (Separate story, page B6).
