Josefina Amaro Sanchez, 74, of Mocksville, N.C., departed this world on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2023.

Josefina was born on Aug. 29, 1949 in Mexico. She was the daughter of the late Amalio Amaro and Casimira Sanchez. In addition to her mother and father, Josefina was preceded in death by: her husband, Bonifacio Hernandez Salinas; and her son, Rodrigo.

In life, Josefina was a homemaker and attended St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church in Mocksville.

She is survived by: daughters, Maria Hernandez Amaro, Virginia Hernandez Amaro, and Adela Hernandez Amaro; 6 sisters, Maria Amaro Sanchez, Juana Amaro Sanchez, Francisa Amaro Sanchez, Erlinda Amaro Sanchez, Adel Amaro Sanchez, and Rafaelea Amaro Sanchez; 17 grandchildren, Monica, Jessica, Roxana, Alexander, Christian, Jaelyn, Jovanni, Jazmine, Jair, Jennifer, Yusef, Gabriel, Saul, Jose, Federico, Yuleima, Camilla, and Chipilones (lizards) Roberto and Salvador.

On Saturday, Dec. 9, a visitation was held at Davie Funeral Service of Mocksville. On Sunday, Dec. 10, a second visitation was also held at Davie Funeral Service. On Monday, Dec. 11, a funeral mass took place at St. Francis Assisi Catholic Church. Josefina was laid to rest at Rose Cemetery.
