Schools welcome veterans for celebrations this week

As Veterans Day approaches, all elementary and middle schools are gearing up to honor and celebrate veterans in a special way. A series of events will take place over two days, offering opportunities for students and staff to express gratitude to those who are serving or have served our country.
The following nine Davie County schools will be hosting Veterans Day events, and veterans are encouraged to attend:
Wednesday, November 8th

Pinebrook Elementary – 8:30 a.m., Breakfast for veterans and several veterans will speak to classes

Mocksville Elementary – 2 p.m., Drive through reverse parade in parking lot, kids hold signs as veterans drive through to see the celebration

Shady Grove Elementary – 8:30 a.m., breakfast for veterans in the cafeteria
Thursday, November 9th
Elementary Schools

Cornatzer Elementary – 8:30 a.m., musical celebration in the gymnasium, two veterans will speak to students, banners will be displayed in gym in recognition of veterans

Cooleemee – 9 a.m., Grade levels will perform outside, while veterans are encouraged to bring a lawn chair to enjoy the performances

William R. Davie Elementary – 8:30 a.m., grade levels and chorus will perform in gym
Middle Schools

North Davie Middle – 8:30 a.m., Gym assembly, performances, guest speaker, reception for guests

South Davie Middle – 9 a.m., Gym assembly honoring community veterans

William Ellis Middle – 8:00 a.m., Breakfast for veterans in the media center, followed by a gym assembly honoring veterans at 8:30 a.m.
