Mr. Robert “Robbie” Preston Lanier, 77, of West Robin Drive, Advance, passed away Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023 at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem.

He was born on Dec. 15, 1945 in Rowan County to the late Robert Pershing and Mabel Foster Lanier.

Robbie graduated from Rowan Tech as a draft engineer and retired after 43 years as an engineer from Bahnson, Inc. He was ordained as a deacon at Fork Baptist Church in 2017, where he and his wife, Barbara had been members since 1976. Robbie loved and served his church faithfully for many years. He also served as a coach in Little League for 15 years. Robbie loved gardening, golfing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include: his wife of 55 years, Barbara Keller Lanier of the home; children, Jeff Lanier (Karena) and Jason Lanier (Crystal); grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah; siblings, Jacqueline Winters, Kay Burton (Bill), Dale Lanier (Donna); and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 19 at Fork Baptist Church, with Rev. Robert Garrett officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Cemetery in Mocksville. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church.
