LANDIS — Members of the Landis Police Department hope the community can help them assist families in need this holiday season by providing new toys and food. The items will benefit families who live in the southern Rowan area and those who show a need.
Any family who is in need can apply by Dec. 20 with the Landis Police Department, 136 North Central Ave., at the corner of North Central Avenue and East Garden Street.
The department is collecting new unwrapped toys and nonperishable food items that can be left at the following collection sites: Landis Police Department, Landis Town Hall on South Main Street, South Rowan YMCA on Kimball Road, Bank of the Carolinas on North Main Street, King’s Quick Stop on West Ryder Avenue and Advance Auto on South Main Street.
Anyone who isn’t able to shop for a toy can make a donation or purchase gift cards for Walmart or Food Lion and deliver them to the Landis Police Department, said Police Detective Roger Hosey.
