Grady McClamrock Sr. didn’t know what was happening when his son – Grady Jr. – hauled him to Sink Farm Equipment near Lexington a few weeks ago.
They had already taken an old bulldozer there to sell, and a Lexington man had bought it.
He came back from that last trip with a renewed faith in mankind.
McClamrock was handed a bag. He looked inside and lo and behold – there was his wallet.
He hadn’t seen it in 22 years. Everything was still there – the hundred dollars or so in cash, the credit cards and other personal documents.
It seems that 22 years ago, McClamrock was helping to clear the land for his son to build his home. Working a bulldozer, he was pushing stumps into a gulley.
Later, he noticed his billfold was missing. He went back to that gully and searched for the wallet, but couldn’t find it. He retraced all of his steps, but still couldn’t find it.
After a while, he forgot about it.
Now, 22 years later, the bulldozer was sold. The man who bought it was taking it apart. Down inside the guts of the bulldozer, laying on the pan, the man found a wallet.
He took it back to Sink Farm Equipment and they contacted the McClamrocks.
“It was just like it was when I lost it,” McClamrock said. “I had forgot about it a long time ago. Believe me, it was a big surprise.
“There’s still some honest people out there.”
