Members of the Disabled Veterans of America (DAV) Chapter 75 of Mocksville were busy over Memorial Day weekend.
They held a barbecue at the post home on US 601 South, and raised money and awareness by setting up a military vehicle display at Wendy’s of Mocksville. They also accepted donations from patrons.
“The money goes towards veterans and their spouses here in Davie County,” said Commander Eugene Potts. “Let’s remember that Memorial Day is not a vacation day but a memorial for our fallen heroes. We are just survivors, they are the true heroes. As Christ died on the cross for the world’s sins and then arose, what a true hero he was.”
Potts quoted John 15:13: “Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends.”
