Global warming?
Every time the temperature plummets, the skeptics come out.
On Monday night, it was County Commissioner Terry Renegar’s turn. “The science of global warming can use some work,” he said at the end of the monthly meeting. He noted that the average temperature in the United States was 14.3şF on Monday.
He may have had a point.
Weather watcher James George of Sheffield said the low temperature on Tuesday morning was -1şF. “That’s the coldest we’ve seen around here in about 20 years,” he said. “If we had snow on the ground, it probably would have gotten down to -10.”
The commissioners took time Monday night to thank county employees, especially the ones who have to work outside – water department, sheriff’s, EMS and other workers.
“These employees deserve thanks,” said Commissioner Richard Poindexter.
