Davie County Manager, John Eller, issued his resignation on Aug. 3, during a closed session of the commissioner’s monthly meeting.  Commissioners accepted the resignation upon returning to open session.

“We regretfully accept Mr. Eller’s resignation, but completely support him in his decision.  He has been an outstanding manager for Davie County, moving the needle in a variety efforts that will have long-term, positive impact on our community.  This is a huge loss and we will miss John and the leadership he has provided,” said Board Chair Terry Renegar.

Eller cited his decision as being “the right decision for him and his family” and noted in his resignation letter that his last day of employment would be Oct. 6.  This will allow the county to transition over a period of 60 days.  Eller also noted in his letter the county staff’s work and commitment to serve, even in
difficult circumstances.  He concluded that they were an inspiration to him during his time with Davie County and also were instrumental in making the organization better and the community stronger.

Under Eller’s leadership, a number of accomplishments have been made including the completion of the East Davie Sewer Project, the creation of a county park and recreation facility that opened at the former site of Davie High School in July of 2020, and the implementation of the county’s strategic plan.
