The Davie County Recreation and Parks Department is preparing a grant application for the Parks and Recreation Trust Fund (PARTF) in conjunction with phase one of the new Davie County Community Park (Davie County High School Re-purposing Project).

“These community meetings will be an excellent opportunity for residents to provide input and suggestions on additional features and potential upgrades that could be implemented as part of phase one construction,” said Paul Moore, recreation director. “For these exciting new additions to be successful it will require the communities input, feedback, and support.”

The new park phase one master plan was approved by the Davie County Board of Commissioners on Dec. 4, 2017. “We want to ensure that our application stands out and thoroughly covers all the check boxes. Six of the top 10 elements that were identified as top priorities by our residents and advisory board were approved for phase one. Now, we want to go a step further and seek resident input on our PARTF application.

“It’s your chance to be creative and share with us your desire for this park. We want to ensure we are building a community gathering place that everyone will enjoy,” Moore said.

Scheduled public input meeting dates at the Brock Recreation Center off North Main Street in Mocksville:

• Thursday, March 21, 6-8 p.m.; and

• Saturday, March 23, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
