Melissa Dawn Doby

Melissa Dawn Doby, 51, of Statesville, died unexpectedly from a heart condition on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 at Iredell Memorial Hospital.

Born Melissa Dawn Lyndon on Dec. 18, 1967, she was a native of Randolph County, and the daughter of the late Bobby Lyndon and Judy Brown Lyndon. She was the widow of Randy Miller who died on May 5, 2012. She was also preceded in death by a son, Brandon Miller.

She had been employed with Lowes Corp. for 19 years and worked as a forklift operator at the distribution center in Olin. One of her hobbies was creating homemade block quilts. She also loved Indians, wolves and Harley Davidson motorcycles.

Survivors: her daughter, Crystal Kilmer (Shawn) of Statesville; 2 sons, Gerald Doby (Elizabeth Robinson) of Statesville and Anthony Doby (Katie) of Washington state; her fiance’, James “Jimmy” Gambill of Statesville; a brother, Bobby Lyndon Jr. (Lorraine) and a great-uncle, Tommy Lyndon, all of Sophia; plus 3 grandchildren, Olivia Kilmer, Tyler Kilmer and Brandon Doby.

A memorial celebration was conducted Saturday, Jan. 26 from 5-7 p.m. in the fellowship fall of Fellowship Baptist Church, 1084 Rainbow Road, Advance.
