Charles McKinley Davis Jr. of Mocksville died on Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, just 11 days after his 86th birthday.
He was born Dec. 10, 1932, the son of the late Charles McKinley Davis Sr. and Bethania Queen Davis. He was the widower of Hazel Pauline White Davis who died on Sept. 20, 2018. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Marian.
Mr. Davis served his country honorably in the US Army and with the Military Honor Guard for the funeral and memorial services of his fellow veterans. He was a retired truck driver with Hennis Truck Lines and he was a member of Turrentine Baptist Church.
Survivors: 2 sons, Charles Davis of Rocky Point, and James Davis of Salisbury; a sister, Helgia Johnson of Mocksville; 3 grandchildren, Amanda Davis of Mocksville and Christopher and Shelby Davis of Mooresville; and 3 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Casey and Connor Jones.
The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at Davie Funeral Chapel. A graveside celebration of life service followed at 3:30 p.m. at Turrentine Baptist Church Cemetery where he was laid to rest beside his wife. Military honors were accorded by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard and the NC National Guard Honors Team.
