Mr. John Lester Keaton, 97, formerly of of Howardtown Circle, Mocksville, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2018, at Bermuda Commons in Advance.

He was born April 12, 1922, in Davie County to the late Samuel Gwyn and Julia Gertie Jarvis Keaton.  After retirement from Drexel Heritage, Mr. Keaton was involved in ministry.

He was also preceded in death by: his first wife and mother of his children, Ruth Howard Keaton; his second wife, Helen Boger Jones Keaton; 2 sisters; and 4 brothers.

Survivors: 3 children, Ronald Keaton (Judy), Joan Boger (Gary) and Mike Keaton, all of Mocksville; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Willard (Jamie), Jana Slough (Chad) and Dustin Keaton; 2 great-grandchildren, Keaton Willard and Lacie Ruth Willard; and a stepdaughter, Linda Cooper (Del) of Advance.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 15 at Eaton Funeral Chapel with Chaplain Katie Lovelace officiating. Burial followed in Dulin United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
