Cooking Matters class starts Wednesday

Cooking Matters, a program for adults to teach tips on cooking healthy on a budget, will be held on Wednesdays through August at First Presbyterian Church of Mocksville, 261 S. Main St.
From 11 a.m.-1 p.m., The Advocacy Center of Davie program will be held July 19, 26, and Aug. 2, 9, 16 and an optional make-up day on Aug. 23.
“Cooking Matters is a free cooking-based education course designed to teach families how to prepar healthy, tasty meals on a limited budget,” said Liz Eagle, who can be reached for more informatino at 336-753-0407.
At each class, learn: strategies for making cooking at home quick, easy, fun, affordable and tasty; participate in interactive nutrition lessons led by a nutritionist; discus suefull food budgeting strategies; prepare and eat a meal in class with the guidance of a culinary instructor; and receive a bag of groceries to try the recipes at home.
Graduates must attend four of the six classes, and will receive a Cooking Matters guide with handouts and recipes; measuring spoons; and a cutting board.
