A special birthday wish to Sue Brockway who celebrated on Au. 5. The Sheffield-Calahaln VFD Back to School Bash will be Saturday, Aug. 9 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. This is a free event with food, music, a jump house, crafts and games and of course, water fun. The department is at 435 Dyson Road, Mocksville.
A special Back to School Bingo will be Friday, Aug. 15 at the Sheffield-Calahaln Community Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. for concessions and bingo starts at 7. There will be 20 games of bingo, a 50/50 drawing, a grand prize drawing and several cakewalks. Bingo cards are $5 each. Concessions consists of hotdogs, chips, drinks and desserts and is donation only. We are excited to welcome everyone to a great night of bingo, food and fellowship. Oct. 10 will be the last bingo for 2025.
It was wonderful seeing so many excited children at VBS at New Union this past week. The children enjoyed songs, crafts, snacks, Bible stories and fun time. The large water slide and the hotdog meal on the final night was a hit with not only the children, but the adults. We thank all those who had a part in making VBS fun and educational. This past Sunday was baptism day where four got baptized at New Union, and then everyone was treated to lunch at the community center.
Hotdog Saturday at New Union is Aug. 23.

Ijames Baptist Church invites you to homecoming and revival beginning Sunday, Aug. 10. Homecoming service will be Sunday with Kenny Greenway delivering the message. A covered dish meal will follow. Consider bringing a dish, dessert or drink. Revival services with Kenny Greenway will be Aug. 10-13 at 7 nightly. Everyone is invited.
Several from Ijames Baptist participated in ServeNC Day at the Children’s Center of NC on Saturday. They helped put together a playground set with mulch and a picnic table, pulled weeds, pressured washed a deck, cleaned windows and porches, secured handrails, and other small projects. Harmony Public Library happenings: Aug. 9 from 2-3 p.m., learn about flowers with local garden expert Kevin Campbell; Aug. 16 from 10 a.m.-noon, enjoy crafts including Sunflower wreaths. Call 704-546-7086.
