Rain did not deter folks from attending vacation Bible school (VBS) at Salem Methodist last weekend. Everyone was reminded to trust Jesus Christ for direction and guidance in today’s crazy world. The Salem folks had attendance of 45 and appreciate everyone’s support in making the VBS successful.
Upcoming community events: homecoming at Clarksbury Methodist Sunday, Aug. 17 with a barbecue dinner after worship; Eddie & Pat St. Claire prison ministry 11 a.m. worship Sunday, Aug. 31, followed by dinner at Calvary Baptist.
Our community extends sympathy to the family of Betty Qualls Gantt, who died Tuesday, July 22 at Gordon Hospice House. She was born in 1936 in Tennessee to the late Bradley and Jessie Lee Qualls. In 1957 she married Joe F. Gantt; the couple settled off US 64 W. on Porter Farm Road and reared four children. Retired from Carpet Distributors of County Line, she enjoyed quilting and was a member of Davie Quilting Guild. A service celebrating her life was held at Cool Spring Community Church, where she attended. She was laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery beside husband Joe, who died 2016.
We extend sympathy to the family of Brenda Stroud Gregory, who died at home Wednesday of last week. One of 5 children, she was born in 1945 in Iredell to the late Wade and Beulah Mae York Stroud of County Line. In 1969 Brenda married Bobby Gregory; the couple settled on Milling Road and reared their family. Retired from retail sales, she enjoyed spending time with family. A graveside service celebrating her life was held Monday morning in the Yadkin Valley Baptist Church Cemetery; she was laid to rest beside Bobby, who died in 2003.
Our community sends get-well wishes to Jack Fowler, who had knee surgery and is recuperating at home. Jarrett Daniels continues treatment for multiple blood clots moving upward in his legs. Romaro Scott remains in rehab at Avante of Wilkesboro.
Join us in prayer for the Lord’s divine healing and blessings upon Jack, Jarrett, Romaro, and other residents who are having health issues. Pray for the Lord’s blessings and comfort upon the families of Betty and Brenda as they deeply miss them in life.
Remember in prayer Kenny and Susan Benfield Smith; his sister Caroldine Winebarger died Tuesday, July 22. Also, remember in prayer Louise B. Seamon and family; her sister Wylene B. Keller died at home July 29.
