The family of Wylene Elizabeth (Bailey) Keller announce her peaceful passing at her home on July 29, 2025, at the age of 100 years.
She will be lovingly remembered by her family; sons, Bob Keller and wife Carol and Donnie Keller and wife Sherry; grandchildren, Shawn Keller Cooper (Jim), Missy Keller Ginther (Chuck), Lee Keller, Megan McDaniels, and Ben Keller (Holly); great-grandchildren, Cannon, Sydney, Haley, Ross, Austin, Jake, Macy, Millie, and Landry; a sister, Mary Louise Seamon; nieces and nephews, and numerous friends of the heart.
She was predeceased by: her husband of 65 years, Clarence “Buck” Keller; a sister; and brothers.
A lifelong resident of Davie County, N.C., she was born Oct. 29, 1924 to the late Charlie and Anna Bailey. She attended local schools. On Feb. 7, 1945, she married Buck, and they enjoyed a wonderful marriage.
Wylene’s legacy is her generous love and tireless support she shared with her community in numerous ways. She was a longtime member of Jericho Church of Christ, involved in every facet of the ministry including outreach missions, women’s Bible studies, vacation Bible school, and always a charitable contributor to all events involving homemade meals and craft projects. Her commitment to serving her church family was unwavering.
She was a founding member of the Davie County Rescue Squad where her efforts included fundraising, community outreach, auxiliary assistance, and preparing thousands of fried fish dinners. She was a long-standing member of the county home demonstration club and the Ruritan Club.
A founding member of the Davie Quilt Guild, her creative talents and leadership assisted the organization in providing quilts for patients of the Veteran’s Hospital, the Children’s Hospital, and anyone in need of warmth and comfort, while highlighting the historical significance of quilting as a communal activity.
Beyond her volunteer commitments, Wylene worked as a nurse’s aide at Davie County Hospital and served as the director of activities at Autumn Care Nursing Home. She was a proud and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother,
An avid sports fan, her favorite teams included the University of North Carolina Tarheels and the Atlanta Braves.
Wylene’s devotion to service and good works is inspirational and she always led by example. She attributed her longevity and positive attitude to her faith, her family, her fortitude, and finally, her treasured John Deere tractor.
A Remembrance of Life service will be held Saturday, Aug. 2 at 2 p.m. at Jericho Church of Christ with Mr. Jack Lipsey, Dr. Tom Torpy, and Mr. Neal Essic officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
