Mrs. Marilyn Frances DeChant Guide, 93, of Bermuda Run, passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at her home.
She was born on March 5, 1932 in North Ridgeville, Ohio to Laurence and Stella (Lehman) DeChant. Marilyn was a 1950 graduate of Ridgeville High School and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Education from Bowling Green State University in 1954, where she was an active member of Alpha Chi Omega Sorority. She focused her studies on elementary education and after graduating enjoyed years as a second grade school teacher in Cleveland, Ohio as well as a substitute teacher throughout her life. Marilyn was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church.
Marilyn was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Over her lifetime, her husband’s business led her to relocating to several states, leading her to make many friends across the country who she always welcomed into her home as she loved hosting guests and entertaining. She was an active member in garden clubs and enjoyed sewing, baking, and traveling with her husband, Bob. Marilyn was a lifelong bridge player and was involved in volunteer organizations including the VA Hospital and Storehouse for Jesus.
In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her sister, Jane DeChant Schmitz (Ray).
Marilyn is survived by: her loving husband of 68 years, Robert “Bob” Guide; 2 children, Cindy Castellano (husband, Vince) and Sharon Guide-Krivit; 4 grandchildren, Natalie and Nicholas Castellano and Marielle and Wesley Krivit.
A Memorial Mass for Marilyn will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 8, 2025 at Holy Family Catholic Church with Father James Stuhrenberg officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
