Stolen vehicle spotted; 2 arrested for drug possession

Two people were arrested Sunday after a stolen vehicle was spotted at a Mocksville convenience store.
Davie Sheriff’s Office deputies located blue Dodge Caravan at the Soda Shoppe on East Lexington Road. It had been reported stolen from Archdale.
Davie Sheriff J.D. Hartman said that deputies could see a glass bond used for smoking marijuana in the middle console. A search revealed two more glass smoking devices with burnt residue, commonly used to smoke methamphetamine. They also confiscated a marijuana cigarette, loose marijuana, a strip of Subutex, a Schedule III controlled substance.
James Russell Kanupp, 36, of Gastonia, was charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of marijuana, possession of marijuana paraphernalia, simple possession of Schedule III controlled substance, and driving while license revoked. He was served with a probation violation warrant, and was taken into custody in lieu of a $10,m000 bond.
A passenger in the vehicle, Jamie Arlene Hersey, 35, of North Wilkesboro, was charged with simple possession of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. Hersey was taken into custody without privilege of bond due to pending charges and the pre-trial integity act.
