The Davie Women’s Auxiliary – Davie County’s newest group for women dedicated to service and community – held its May meeting with a full agenda full hearts.
Now just barely a year old, the group has grown to 53 members, officially welcoming Kay Powell as its newest during the May gathering.
Each month the Auxiliary meets on the third Wednesday to connect, contribute, and coordinate a growing list of service projects aimed at improving lives in Davie County.
This month’s meeting featured a presentation from Dr. Suzanne Hess, founder of Davie Dermatology, who spoke passionately about skin cancer awareness and prevention, a timely and important topic as summer approaches. Her talk was informative and empowering, reminding members of the value of self-care and early detection.
Members contributed 38 jars of peanut butter to support “Serving Our Neighbors,” a mobile ministry providing essential resources to underserved families throughout the county.
The group continues an ongoing diaper drive for the Storehouse for Jesus, with a particular focus on larger-sized diapers. Donations can be dropped off at the Habitat ReStore at Bermuda Quay Shopping Center in Bermuda Run.
Auxiliary members will assist with the upcoming Charity Classic Golf Tournament on Sept. 13 at Bermuda Run Country Club, which will benefit Habitat For Humanity Davie County.
In May, the group also celebrated the success of its annual geranium sale, which raised funds for future projects and charities.
Planning is underway for a poinsettia sale in December as well as a fundraising dinner at Bermuda Village to benefit Habitat For Humanity Davie.
The auxiliary is more than just a service group – it’s a growing sisterhood of women determined to make a difference, one project at a time.
